The time and money investment behind serious ITIL, requires years of commitment and right now almost nobody can afford to make such a commitment. It is an open question whether those who already have done so, can keep to their original plans. Government agencies who face huge budget cuts, are a case in point.

And I do detect some frustration among those primarily focused upon network infrastructure management, that their facet of the job seems to be ignored by the marketing hype. It is possible that this pheomenon is a reflection of Merger and Acquisition politics and also of the reality that network infrastructure is much more reliable than it was twenty years ago when the ESM world began to form into something worth talking about.Tracy Aventhttp:////merc-training.cce.hp.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4047765466335766067.post-78836827176650944842010-12-05T09:35:03.793-08:002010-12-05T09:35:03.793-08:00А! "the Slate will run $549 in its base configuration, which has a 8.9-inch 1024 x 600 capacitive multitouch display, a 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor with UMA graphics and an accelerator for 1080p video playback (we're assuming it's a Broadcom Crystal HD chip), 32GB of flash storage and 1GB of non-upgradeable RAM. There's also a $599 version with 64GB of storage, and both models will have a five-hour battery, an SDHC slot, two camera, a USB port, a SIM card slot for the optional 3G modem, and a dock connector for power, audio, and HDMI out."Jason J Kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14107420551233081735noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4047765466335766067.post-61173751716987428512008-11-11T21:18:00.000-08:002008-11-11T21:18:00.000-08:00Well said.Well said.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4047765466335766067.post-86865629876387893412008-09-09T08:18:00.000-07:002008-09-09T08:18:00.000-07:00Yeah, I was there I took the Performance Center tr...Yeah, I was there I took the Performance Center track... the only kind of 'work-around' to get some decent performance was assigning 256 MB to each VM image.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4047765466335766067.post-40434757079961941252008-06-12T13:10:00.000-07:002008-06-12T13:10:00.000-07:00I would say you should also consider evaluating no...I would say you should also consider evaluating non-framework related solutions like the ones from Ni2 or Managed Objects (I am not working for either, so this is impartial feedback from our customers).

This said, I personally think that evaluating CMDBs without the tools that populate them is limited in value.

Why, because CMDBs are as good as the data they hold. If this data isn't automatically updated on a daily basis, the data quality (how current and accurate it is) is just too low to support the ITIL processes in a cost effective manner. This is because if the CIs aren't current enough (representative of the current state of the environment), then whatever project that will require this data (e.g. migrating NT4 servers to Win 2003 servers, outsourcing business applications etc) will end up running over time and over budget

At Tideway - www.tideway.com -, our customers have reported that data accuracy must be at least 97.5%. What this means is that unless 97.5% of the CMDB CIs have been correctly updated in the last 24h, your projects will fail (run over time and budget) and your CMDB will not be delivering its promised value to the business.

Have you got similar experience in your own projects?Manuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16388290960986759831noreply@blogger.com
